Group Structure

The Vontobel Group's integrated business model is based on our combined core competencies in wealth and asset management and investment banking. The success of this model is dependent on the close cooperation of the three business units Private Banking, Investment Banking and Asset Management.

Private Banking
The Private Banking business unit addresses the needs of wealthy private clients. The relationship managers in Private Banking are experts in the field of active wealth management. They offer their clients a comprehensive range of customized services and provide individual advice that takes account of the needs of future generations. The offering comprises a wide variety of services - ranging from portfolio management and active investment advisory to integrated financial advice and inheritance planning. Private Banking has units in Zurich, Geneva, Lucerne, Vaduz, Salzburg, Vienna, Munich, Madrid, Marbella and Vancouver.

Investment Banking
The Investment Banking business unit specializes in the creation, distribution and market making of derivatives and structured products with a focus on Swiss and European equities. Its other activities include securities and foreign exchange trading, brokerage (institutional sales and research), corporate finance and the Partner Solutions business (services for external asset managers and transaction banking). Investment Banking has operations in Zurich, Geneva, Cologne, Frankfurt, Grand Cayman, Dubai, London and New York.

Since 1 January 2008, the Investment Banking business unit has been managed by Roger Studer, who was previously responsible for the Financial Products business. He succeeds Dr Zeno Staub, who has taken over as the Head of the Asset Management business unit.

Asset Management
The Asset Management business unit specializes in active asset
management based on asset allocation, stock selection and multi-manager approaches. Its products are distributed through wholesale channels and directly to institutional clients. They are also sold by Vontobel's cooperation partners. Vontobel supplies Raiffeisen Switzerland with comprehensive investment services as part of their long-term cooperation. It also has a majority stake in Harcourt Investment Consulting AG, an internationally established provider of fund of hedge funds products for institutional investors in particular. The business unit has a presence in Zurich, New York, Frankfurt, Vienna, Luxembourg, Milan and - since 1 July 2007 - Madrid, from which it serves its clients. Harcourt also has operations in Geneva, Stockholm, Hong Kong and Grand Cayman.

Since 1 January 2008, Dr Zeno Staub has been responsible for the newly realigned Asset Management business unit, which now comprises the sales units, the former Group Investment Center and other production centers. Asset Management is strengthening its positioning as a multi-boutique provider with a clear focus on actively managed, innovative products. This measure is aimed at creating an integrated and efficient unit which is aligned more closely to market needs and benefits from a powerful sales organization.

Operations, Finance & Risk and Group Services (Corporate Center)
The Corporate Center of the Vontobel Group comprises the support units Operations, Finance & Risk and Group Services. The Operations unit is divided into Processing, Business Applications and Technology & Infrastructure, while the Finance & Risk unit combines the areas of Finance & Controlling, Treasury, Risk Control, Compliance, Legal and Investor Relations. Group Services consists of Human Resources, Corporate Communications, Corporate Marketing and Corporate Business Development.
