Vontobel Group launches Financial Products business in Italy

The Vontobel Group is expanding its operations in Italy with the launch of a dedicated Financial Products business, which will offer derivatives and structured products to
Italian investors. Its first issues of certificates are now listed on the SeDeX market of the Italian Stock Exchange. At the official event to mark the opening of Vontobel
Financial Products in Italy, the keynote speaker Professor Otmar Issing discussed the current financial market situation in Europe and noted that the worst of the financial crisis
may now be over.

clients," stated Herbert J. Scheidt, CEO of the Vontobel Group, as he welcomed guests to the gala dinner held by Vontobel at the Italian Stock Exchange in Milan.

The keynote speaker at the opening of Vontobel Financial Products, Professor Otmar Issing, is a leading European monetary economist who served as a Member of the Executive Board
and Chief Economist of the European Central Bank from 1998 until May 2006. Commenting on the current financial situation in Europe, he noted: "There are signs that the worst
of the financial market crisis may now be behind us. However, we cannot rule out the possibility of a few negative surprises. The central banks have injected an enormous amount of
liquidity into the markets but it is important that they do not lose sight of their ultimate goal, which is to maintain price stability".
