Bank Vontobel Europe AG starts operations
The newly established 'Bank Vontobel Europe AG', which is headquartered in Munich and is a 100% subsidiary of the Swiss financial institution the Vontobel Group, will start
operations in Germany in May 2009.
Vontobel is gradually combining its Private Banking, Asset Management and Investment Banking operations in Germany within 'Bank Vontobel Europe AG'. As a subsidiary of Vontobel
Holding AG, which is listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange, Bank Vontobel Europe AG has EUR 50 million of equity capital and will initially employ 50 members of staff. The
bank's Management Board comprises: Dr. Dirk Drechsler, Managing Director, Alois Ebner, Andreas Heinrichs and Richard Zweng. The three-member Supervisory Board is chaired by
Herbert J. Scheidt, CEO of the Vontobel Group. Vontobel was granted a full banking licence by the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) in February 2009.
Dr. Dirk Drechsler commented: "We can offer clients traditional qualities such as reliability, prudence, professionalism and a high level of financial solidity, which are the
hallmarks of Swiss banking. Our goal is to expand our business in Germany in order to establish it as our second domestic market. We will also strive to position Vontobel as the
leading Swiss private bank in Germany."
A ceremony will be held in the Prinzregententheater in Munich on 10 May 2009 to mark the bank's official launch. The event will be attended by the Bavarian Finance Minister Georg
Fahrenschon.
The Vontobel Group has been serving German clients since 2002 from its branches in Munich, Frankfurt, Cologne and Hamburg, where it established a presence at the end of 2008. With
its Private Banking, Asset Management and Investment Banking activities, Vontobel now offers the full range of banking services from a single source.
