Celebrating watchmaking excellence at Vontobel
At Vontobel, we focus on quality and precision, and we partner with others who emphasize these same values. Watchmaking is renowned for its attention to detail, and we are thrilled to announce an upcoming collaboration within this industry.
This spring, we are partnering with the online watch magazine “WatchAdvisor – Your Time. Our Passion." to sponsor their exclusive coverage of this year's event, “Watches & Wonders”. It is a celebration of watchmaking excellence, and we provide WatchAdvisor's direct reporting from the fair, along with in-depth industry knowledge in Vontobel's latest "Swiss watch industry outlook" livestream replay.

The Swiss watch industry has one of its toughest years behind it. Exports plummeted by 22% due to the global lock-down, similar to the decline seen in 2009 during the financial crisis. Swatch Group in particular has been hit hard, with smartwatches not making it easy for traditional watchmakers. However, Vontobel analysts expect a strong rebound in the second quarter of 2021 (+18%), though not a return to 2019 levels. This rebound will be driven mainly by Mainland China, which became the largest export market for Swiss watches for the first time in 2020.
