As a multi-boutique we focus on Equities, Fixed Income, Multi Asset Class, and Alternative Investing, actively managing over CHF 125bn of assets on behalf institutional and intermediary clients globally.

With roots and track records going back to 1990, the Swiss Institutional clients represent with CHF 24bn of assets under management the biggest client segment of Vontobel Asset Management. While the business grew significantly over the past years, we still see a lot of additional potential in the Swiss Institutional market thanks to an enlarged product offering, excellent track records and our very solid market reputation as a performance driven active asset manager. To support further growth, we are searching for a Zurich-based Senior Sales with a strong focus on acquiring new clients.

Your opportunity


This is an entrepreneurial role with significant scope to create value. A genuine passion for client acquisition is essential, as is the desire to work with a strong team to consistently build up new business.

Main responsibilities

  • Clear planning of market segmentation and target clients
  • Ensure structured sales process for client lead generation, follow up and conversion (systematic management of the sales pipeline and the overall sales funnel in CRM)
  • Systematically acquire new clients
  • Drive the sales team’s acquisition plan for the defined focus products
  • Manage ongoing relationships and develop them further
  • Build-up of an in-depth knowledge of our investment offering
  • Oversee RFP and tender processes and ensure that client requirements are optimally covered (in collaboration with dedicated support departments)
  • Additional responsibilities

  • Contribute to planning regional roadshows and marketing campaigns in alignment with the overall marketing plan
  • Share and further develop Vontobel’s best-in-class client service standards
  • Provide constructive feedback on peer group developments and trends



  • Relationship Manager with proven track record in institutional client acquisition with at least 4 years of asset management sales experience
  • Strong sales skills and hunting desire
  • University degree in business, economics or finance
  • Good knowledge of the Swiss institutional business market including pension funds, corporates and insurance companies
  • Existing network with institutional clients in the German part of Switzerland
  • Experience in selling ESG strategies would be a plus
  • Ability to quickly adopt to new situations
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit and commercial mindset
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player
  • Strong general investment product knowledge
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • German (or Swiss German) native language and excellent English (verbal and written). Italian language skills an advantage
  • High personal integrity
