Our history since

Founded in 1924 as F.E. Haeberli & Cie., Vontobel took shape in 1936 when Jakob Vontobel acquired the firm during a challenging economic period. Initially a family-owned private bank, it built a reputation for tailored financial services, risk management, and Swiss banking traditions, later expanding into investment manage­ment and asset advisory.

In 1986, Vontobel went public – with the family retaining a controlling stake through a foundation – ensuring growth while maintaining independence. Over the years, it diversified into investment banking, structured products, and asset management, expanding across Europe, North America, and Asia.
