A video interview with Michael Perschke, CEO of the electric car manufacturer Automobili Pininfarina

"The socially correct sports car" – that’s the motto of the Indian-Italian car consortium Automobili Pininfarina, written right on the body. They build a sports car with twice the performance of a Formula 1 vehicle, but which is meant to be highly environmentally friendly and sustainable at the same time.

Michael Perschke, CEO of Automobili Pininfarina

For almost 90 years, the name Pininfarina has stood for exclusive design, notably for the sports cars of Ferrari, Alfa Romeo and Maserati. Following its acquisition by the Indian conglomerate Mahindra, the dream of company founder Battista Pininfarina could now come true: a completely independent Pininfarina automobile. Under the leadership of the German CEO Michael Perschke, a super sports car is currently being built, outclassing all previously known performance figures for a vehicle: from 0 to 100 km/h in two seconds; with a top speed of over 350 km/h.

China is the market leader for e-vehicles

The eyes of electric vehicle manufacturers have long since turned to the East: in China there are currently around 460 start-ups involved in e-mobility, and the government is steering about USD 200 billion into this technology. According to Perschke's estimates, two to three companies, each the size of a Volkswagen Group, could soon emerge.

Luxury made in Italy

To stand up to the competition, the Indian-Italian company Automobili Pininfarina has decided to build the fastest, most beautiful, most powerful, and most sustainable electric vehicle of all time: the "PF zero". The luxury sports car is meant to offer twice the performance of a Formula 1 race car.

The socially correct sports car

Emission-free, sustainably manufactured, completely recyclable – in addition to its sporty high performance, the "PF zero" will also provide its owners the certainty that with their purchase, they are acting in a responsible and environmentally conscious way. Luxury with no regrets, one could say.

Who are we? How do we live today? And how will digitization change our lives? How the future will unfold is preoccupying society more than ever, with engineers, doctors, politicians – each one of us, in fact – seeking answers. This video interview with Michael Perschke is one of many contributions that shed light on the theme "Digitized Society" from a new, inspiring perspective. We are publishing them here as part of our series "Impact".
