US consumer confidence remains historically low, despite strong equity markets. Confidence weakness reflects some headwinds, like higher inflation and financing costs. However, net wealth has increased substantially and remains a supportive factor for US consumption, as mostly higher income brackets drive the overall consumption growth. Anecdotal evidence of such positive wealth factor can be found in other regions as well, like South Korea for instance and Europe.
