Vontobel appoints new Head of Risk Control

 

Dr. Markus Voegelin, Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Coutts & Co., Zurich, has been appointed Head of the Risk Control business unit and a member of the Finance & Risk management team, effective 1 March 2016. In this role, he will have Group-wide responsibility for Market Risk/Product Control, Credit Risk, Operational Risk and Investment Control. Voegelin succeeds Dr. Susanne Brandenberger, who became a member of the Board of Directors of the private bank EFG International in October 2015.

 

Dr. Markus Voegelin, Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Coutts & Co., Zurich, has been appointed Head of the Risk Control business unit and a member of the Finance & Risk management team, effective 1 March 2016. In this role, he will have responsibility for the Group-wide functions Market Risk/Product Control, Credit Risk, Operational Risk and Investment Control. He will report to Dr. Martin Sieg Castagnola, Chief Financial Officer of Vontobel.

 

After training as a banker, Dr. Markus Voegelin completed studies in Economics in Zurich and Basel. Before being appointed to the General Management Committee of Coutts & Co., Zurich, in 2013, he served as CFO and Finance Director of the bank, which he joined in 2007 from Julius Baer. During his time at Julius Baer, he gained experience in roles including Head of Private Banking Finance, Head of Staff Private Banking and Head of Controlling. He also worked for the Swiss consulting firm Mutaris Consulting and for UBS, where he began his career in Commercial Banking.

 

Dr. Markus Voegelin succeeds Dr. Susanne Brandenberger, who became a member of the Board of Directors of the private bank EFG International and Head of the Board of Directors’ Risk Committee in October 2015.
