New Manager of Vontobel Wealth Management branch in Munich

Marel Weideneder, a member of the Executive Board of Vontobel Wealth Management Munich, was appointed as the new Manager of the Wealth Management branch in Munich of Bank Vontobel Europe AG, effective May 1, 2021. The Wealth Management branch in Munich was previously headed by Thomas Fischer in addition to his role as a member of the Management Board of Bank Vontobel Europe AG. The new division of responsibilities has been implemented by Vontobel to take account of the constant growth of the business in recent years. Vontobel delivers its global investment expertise to clients in Germany through its branches in Munich and Hamburg. To support business growth, the advisory teams in Munich and Hamburg have been continuously strengthened over the years. This includes the hiring of Andreas Hierl as a further Senior Relationship Manager for the Munich branch, effective May 1, 2021. He has joined Vontobel from Credit Suisse Private Banking and brings with him more than ten years of experience in advising wealth management clients. Today, a total of around 20 wealth management experts in Munich and Hamburg, together with the team in Zurich, serve clients domiciled in Germany.

The provision of advisory services for wealth management clients is one of the drivers of growth for Vontobel’s business in Germany. Despite the corona pandemic, Vontobel was able to achieve double-digit growth in advised client assets on a percentage basis in 2020 – primarily by acquiring new clients. As a result of the high level of client satisfaction demonstrated by a new client survey in 2021, an increasing number of new clients have decided to bank with Vontobel based on the recommendations of existing clients, further accelerating growth. In the prior year, sustainable investment opportunities met with a particularly high level of demand from German clients. Sustainable investments already accounted for almost 10% of advised client assets last year. Bank Vontobel Europe AG closed 2020 with a new record level of assets under management.
