Have you gained initial experience supporting institutional clients in asset management and want to build a career in institutional sales? If you are passionate about investments, relationship management and business development, this role offers a strong entry into one of Switzerland’s leading asset managers.

Within the Swiss Institutional Clients team, you will support pension funds, insurers and family offices, contributing to both new business development and the maintenance of long-term client relationships.

This role targets ambitious candidates aiming to move into a client-facing relationship management position within three years. You will initially support senior Relationship Managers, build a deep understanding of clients, products and sales processes, and gradually take on more responsibility, including direct client interaction.

We provide the training, exposure and mentorship needed to succeed in institutional sales. In return, we seek motivated, curious individuals eager to develop into trusted business developers and eventually manage institutional client relationships independently.

The position suits candidates with first experience in client servicing, sales support or relationship management in asset management who are ready to take the next step into a front-office sales role.

What would your role be? 

  • You support Relationship Managers in managing and growing institutional client relationships.
  • You prepare presentations, sales materials, market updates and portfolio reviews as well as coordinate client meetings, events and follow-ups to ensure a seamless experience.
  • You support RFPs, DDQs as well as client information requests.
  • You maintain CRM data, sales pipelines and reporting as well as contribute to process improvements and digital initiatives.
  • In a second step, you link the team members with one Vontobel investment boutique and become the team’s content expert for this asset class.
  • In a final step, you join client events, meetings and pitches to learn the relationship management role.

What are we looking for?

  • Initial experience within institutional client servicing, sales support, client relationship management or a similar role within asset management.
  • A clear ambition to pursue a long-term career in institutional sales and client relationship management.
  • Master’s degree with an excellent academic record, seeking an opportunity in an international work environment 
  • Strong interest in financial markets, investments and institutional asset management.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proactive, curious and commercially minded with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Fluency in German and English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint and Word), with ideally some experience of CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce) and the effective use of data and AI tools for market intelligence, research and analytical purposes.
