Akosua Viktoria Adu-Sanyah

Akosua Viktoria Adu-Sanyah (*1990, Bonn) is a young German-Ghanaian artist based in Zürich, Switzerland The Art Vontobel Collection hold several of her works, from the Project “Behold The Ocean”, including the Collection’s first NFT. “Behold The Ocean” delves into the immense power and beauty of the ocean while shedding a light on the complexities of climate research—on both a personal and scientific level—and the vulnerable magnificence of our ecosystem. Chronicling research expeditions to the Southernmost of Patagonia, Adu-Sanyah presents a complex body of work that weaves together elements of conceptual and documentary work. These expeditions—one set against the backdrop of the global coronavirus pandemic, and another, challenged by winters on the Strait of Magellan—form the axis around which these works revolve, to create a unique crossover of arts, exploration, and economics: The second expedition was partially funded through the sale of NFTs, which the artist created from material gathered on the first research trip. Her works are currently on view in our Headquarters in Zurich.
