Are you looking to join a high performing sales team? We are currently looking for a highly driven energetic Hong Kong-based Sales Director within the Intermediary Clients, Asia team; focused on business development and relationship management with global and regional private banks and retail banks in Asia.

This role will be an integral part of our strategic effort to promote Vontobel's investment management capabilities and funds in Asia.

What would your role be?

Your role as a Director within the intermediary Asia team will be an integral part of our strategic effort to promote Vontobel's investment management capabilities and funds in Asia. The sales process to and through financial institutions is varied and demanding – there is no single approach that is applied consistently. Consequently, to be successful in this area, it is essential that the candidate understands how to build relationships in a potentially complex environment as well as having a deep understanding of investment management and the structuring of investment solutions.

The candidate must also be able to network and influence in a sensitive but effective way throughout Vontobel. The position is viewed as an important hire to build Vontobel's presence amongst global and regional private banks and retail banks in Asia with a particular focus on Hong Kong. Key requirements are:

  • Work with the Head of Intermediary Sales, Asia (Singapore-based) to develop and execute a regional business development and relationship management strategy for global and regional private banks in Hong Kong.
  • Build and maintain detailed knowledge of key business and strategic issues facing financial institutions in Hong Kong and across Asia
  • Ability to forge strong relationships within and across the client organization to drive commercial results
  • Acquisition and ongoing servicing of new and existing clients
  • Marketing the full range of Vontobel's products and services to the assigned client base with the assistance of investment platform professionals where appropriate
  • Development and implementation of a business plan to identify prospects and raise assets across VAM’s product capabilities.
  • Ensure that all compliance and legal requirements are met and business is conducted in line with best practice, taking appropriate action where necessary

What are we looking for?

  • Self-confident, robust, decisive, trustworthy and with excellent judgement on client matters
  • Entrepreneurial and a self-starter, but able to operate in a team environment.
  • Have demonstrated ability to drive commercial success
  • Innovative thinker able to bring forward and promote new ideas and initiatives, among peers and investors
  • Strong and confident presenter also in front of large audiences
  • Good understanding of investment products across all asset classes
  • Service mentality: client-centric, diligent and meeting fast turnaround times
  • Excellent time management between aftersales servicing, prospect/client activity and internal stakeholder engagement is a key success factor for this role
  • Collegiate team player, experienced and comfortable in an international environment
  • Outstanding communication skills in English (both written and verbal), Mandarin (both written and verbal) and Cantonese (verbal).
  • At least 5 years or more experience with proven track record in sales or client servicing within the financial industry
