E-Taxstatement
Would you prefer to skip countless sheets of paper and the time-consuming transfer of each item to your tax return? Vontobel’s electronic tax statement lets you declare everything necessary concerning your assets, returns and debts in your tax return, conveniently and with minimum effort.
Information about the eTaxstatement
23 Swiss cantons already support the eTaxstatement. An electronic tax statement eliminates the need to transfer the totals manually to the tax return. Instead, you just upload the PDF to your electronic tax return. Contact your tax authority (see below) to find out exactly how this works. Special aspects for the canton of Zurich are shown in our video.
If you have any further questions, please contact your relationship manager.
Most cantons have adapted their tax software to cater for the eTaxstatement. Using the paperless eTaxstatement, you can transfer all the necessary bank data to the tax return with a few clicks, file it online to the tax authority, or simply forward the PDF to your tax advisor.
The eTaxstatement is available in electronic and physical form.
The eTaxstatement (PDF format) can be imported into the electronic tax return or the tax software provided by the cantons. The data from the tax statement is transferred directly to the electronic tax return.
All you need to do is transfer the total amounts from the summary to the list of securities and credit balances and to the list of debts on the tax return. However, it is mandatory to submit the physical eTaxstatement together with the tax return.
Save the eTaxstatement as a PDF on your computer and then upload this document directly to the electronic tax return required by your canton. The data from the tax statement is automatically transferred to the electronic tax return (depending on the canton, minor manual adjustments may have to be made; note the relevant instructions in the tax software). The tax return does NOT need to be accompanied by a printed copy of the tax statement.
If the tax return is NOT filed online, the eTaxstatement MUST also be submitted PHYSICALLY.
As before, all you need to do is transfer the total amounts from the summary to the list of securities and credit balances and to the list of debts on the tax return.
The barcodes at the end of the eTaxstatement are used to process the tax return digitally. For this reason, the complete eTaxstatement must be submitted to the tax authority, together with the tax return.
Please contact your relationship manager to arrange this.
Yes, you can.
In principle, you can file the tax return online and send the other tax statement to the tax authority by mail. But do remember that the amounts from the other tax statement must be transferred manually to the tax return. In most cantons using online tax software, however, it is also possible to simply attach documents as PDFs.
The barcode includes a reference number indicating the main account (e.g. 1234.001). The reference number does not apply if you have other sub-accounts such as 1234.002 and/or 1234.003, but no consolidated tax statement. In this case, you will have to manually transfer the figures from the other tax statements to the tax program. However, you can upload the PDF of the eTax statements as an attachment in most cantons and thus submit them online.
However, if the account 1234.002 is a usufruct account, it is taxable by the usufructuary. The electronic upload should be possible for the usufructuary.
If you get error messages, we recommend that you contact the hotline of the tax authorities in your canton. Occasionally there may still be technical problems, especially as some cantons have introduced the eTax statement quite recently.
