Vontobel Asset Management broadens its corporate bond offering with new global fund

Published on 08.09.2017 CEST

Corporate mid-yield bonds (rated between A+ and BBB-) are one of the most promising pockets within the credit market. The new fund, managed by Christian Hantel, one of the top performing portfolio managers in this segment, aims to exploit the opportunities in this under-represented asset class.

"The focus on global mid-yield  allows us to offer a product that captures and preserves value for our investors over time," says Christian Hantel. "Our flexible investment approach is designed to identify and select corporate bonds where the spread premium more than compensates for the risks taken, giving investors access to the most diversified and liquid credit universe."

Prior to joining Vontobel Asset Management in 2015, Christian Hantel was the lead manager of Swisscanto’s Global Corporate Bond fund. Before that, he worked as Head of Corporate Credit for BNY Mellon Asset Management with performance responsibility for approximately six billion euros in corporate-credit investment grade and crossover mandates.

Vontobel Asset Management has over 20 years of experience in investing in fixed-income strategies. The team consists of 40 investment professionals located in Zurich and London. Hervé Hanoune, leads the team in Zurich, comprising of 20 investment professionals, including seven senior corporate credit specialists. This launch underlines Vontobel’s commitment to further expand the USD 20 billion fixed-income offering.
