Head Databases

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated database engineering professional to lead our small, highly skilled team of database engineers. You’ll be responsible for delivering and evolving enterprise-strength database services that power mission-critical applications like Avaloq and e-Banking. This is a key role at the intersection of leadership, engineering, and innovation — driving both on-premises excellence and cloud transformation.

What Would Your Role Be?

Lead a team of database engineers both technically and organizationally
Ensure provisioning of stable, secure, high-performing and cost-efficient database services based on Oracle RDBMS and Microsoft SQL Server
Drive the transformation of database services to Azure and Oracle Cloud
Lead the introduction and integration of PostgreSQL into our platform portfolio
Collaborate closely with infrastructure and application teams for seamless operations
Continuously improve service quality and engineering standards

What Are We Looking For?

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Technology, Engineering, or a related field
5+ years as a Senior Database Engineer in complex enterprise environments
2+ years in a team lead or lead engineer role for critical database platforms
Strong expertise in Oracle RDBMS and Microsoft SQL Server technologies
Deep understanding of HA/DR, backup/restore, performance tuning and troubleshooting practices for enterprise-strength database services
Proficiency in scripting/automation (Python, PowerShell, SQL)
Solid understanding of underlying Linux and/or Windows operating system environments
