Are you interested in understanding how portfolio managers generate performance? For our Investment Performance Analysis team, we are looking for a Senior Performance Analyst to assess and review the performance of actively managed portfolios, to manage the lifecycle of their custom benchmarks and to report on their active performance to senior management.

What would your role be?

  • Independent analysis of portfolio performance across all asset classes, at aggregate and constituent levels, on both absolute and relative bases, as well against peers / competitors, including deployment of quantitative performance attribution methodologies. 

  • Full lifecycle management of custom multi-asset benchmarks.

  • Maintenance of portfolio and benchmark composites based on multi-asset investment strategies.

  • Monitoring ex-post performance parameters and escalation of issues when required.

  • Taking responsibility for regular performance analysis, and reporting obligations; delivery of ad hoc performance analysis requests, acting as subject matter experts within the firm.

  • Participation in regular formal investment performance reviews with investment teams (portfolio managers, investment boutique heads), and senior management.

What are we looking for?

  • Degree in finance / economics or a comparable qualification, ideally with 3 to 5 years of professional experience as performance analyst or portfolio manager preferably in an asset management firm

  • Deep knowledge of asset classes and financial instruments (fixed income, equity, FX and derivatives securities

  • Concepts of performance attribution (Equity, Fixed Income, Multi Asset)

  • Experience in Python, Excel VBA

  • First-hand experience of portfolio management systems (e.g. Avaloq, Charles River CRIMS), and portfolio analytics systems (MSCI BarraOne, Bloomberg Entreprise)

  • A desire to solve problems, taking the initiative to obtain the required information where necessary, innovating where appropriate and following issues through to resolution or hand-over to suitable responsible parties.

  • A process-oriented mindset, who can design, review, manage and document performance-related processes involving internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to work closely within the Zürich-based Performance Analysis team, as well as with colleagues in other teams and locations.

  • Ability to work independently and be effective in supporting a collaborative effort.

  • Strong communication skills in English, with German being an advantage
