Sustainability Report
Our Sustainability Report 2023 has undergone a significant revamp and is oriented along our six Sustainability Commitments. We strive to report transparently on our sustainability efforts and achievements, as well as on the road ahead as we work towards our goals. Governance & Transparency
- We sharpened our Group-level sustainability governance and report on the integration of Sustainability/ ESG risks within our risk management framework.
- We report in accordance with GRI Standards for the 13th time, and for the first time the report contains further information on the TCFD recommendations in the “TCFD Index”
- The Sustainability Report serves as a report for purposes of the Swiss Code of Obligations Art. 964 a – 964 c and contains a detailed reference table on non-financial matters.
Investment Solutions
- Vontobel manages CHF 103.3 billion of investment solutions that incorporate ESG criteria.
- Investment teams subscribe to four common ESG Investment Principles
- We strengthened our ESG investment governance in 2023.
Advice for Private Clients
- In Wealth Management Vontobel offers discretionary mandate solutions for multi and single asset mandates based on the client’s needs and preferences for sustainable investing.
- In 2023, we successfully rolled-out our proprietary ESG Framework for private clients.
- The Framework includes three ESG classifications: risk-adjusted performance, mitigation of negative effects and positive contribution.
Path to net-zero
- Significantly managed to reduce energy consumption in 2023 through a reduction in fuel consumption from non-renewable sources.
- Extended the scope of our operational Scope 3 emissions through IT-devices.
- Defined a net-zero strategy and a reduction path for the bond investments in non-sovereign issuers in our banking book.

- In 2022, we have defined our diversity, equality and inclusion strategy (DE&I), and in 2023, we have increased the accountability of senior leadership through including DE&I targets in goal setting.

Community Engagement
- We are a member of the Corporate Support Group of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) & a founding member of the Swiss Climate Foundation
- Annual fund-raising initiative supports an ICRC project every year, this year focused on the topic of “Forgotten Conflicts”.
