On April 4, 2019, 69 university graduates attended the Info Day for the Graduate Trainee Program at Vontobel. Read what we experienced throughout the day.

“Every day is a good day. At Vontobel, every day is a great day!” With this quote paraphrasing Jeff Bezos, Roger Studer, Head Investment Banking, opened this year’s GTP Info Day and warmly welcomed all attendees.

The GTP Info Day began at 8:30 a.m. with a tasty welcome coffee, including croissants, of course. After a round of introductions to Vontobel and the Investment Banking business unit, attendees were able to get an idea of the eight internal divisions, each of which had set up its own market stall:

Financial Products - Trading & Engineering

Financial Products - Distribution & Marketing

Financial Products Application Development (Trading IT & Web Developments & Data Integration)

Corporate Finance

Transaction Banking

IB Legal, Regulation & Tax

Everyone was thus able to explore the divisions by moving from stand to stand, learning about their business models and putting questions to representatives from each division.

As Bank Vontobel staff, we also wanted to know more about the potential trainees. A personality typology according to MBTI helped us here. Rather than just providing one-sided insights, it also enabled attendees to learn more about themselves before breaking for a buffet lunch.

In a seamless transition to a very special kind of dessert, the “dessert carousel”, attendees could sample tasty desserts in three rotations and exchange views and ideas with former trainees from their chosen fields.

The event ended with a Business Content Workshop, at which attendees showed off their skills in team tasks ranging from brainstorming to pitching.

In the final Q&A round, our HR staff informed the potential trainees about the next steps and answered further questions that they had thought of during the GTP Info Day.
