Legal Counsel Asset Management (80-100%)

The Legal team of Institutional Clients & Investments in Zurich offers a unique opportunity to grow and develop in a successful and diverse environment. You will be part of an international Legal & Compliance department and working closely with our business partners and control functions to provide legal expertise on a wide scope of topics, from setting up investment funds , drafting legal fund documentation and investment management contracts, assessing legal and regulatory developments, to interacting with regulatory authorities and other stakeholders.

In this role, you will report directly to the Head of Legal Switzerland and interact with clients, regulators and auditors, working closely with portfolio management, trading, product and sales specialists, and control functions.

What would your role be?

Provide legal advice on investment management and advisory, product life cycles, distribution, investment platforms and trading, contract law and corporate related matters in Europe and the Middle East, Americas and APAC.
Draft and review legal documents and contracts, including prospectuses and regulatory filings, investment management agreements, derivative and trading agreements, distribution agreements and corporate documents.
Support business initiatives and projects from a legal and regulatory perspective, ensuring appropriate governance and risk assessment.
Provide legal advice and guidance on U.S. financial regulations, including SEC and CFTC related matters, in coordination with internal stakeholders and external counsel where appropriate.
Provide legal guidance in the assessment of complex cases and structures.
Collaborate with Legal & Compliance teams globally to address regulatory inquiries and audits and to implement regulatory changes.
Coordinate with external counsel when necessary, including the scoping, instruction and review of legal opinions.
Monitor legal and regulatory developments and industry trends in asset management and banking (in particular in Switzerland, Europe and the U.S.), assess their impact and support proper implementation.

What are we looking for?

Fully qualified lawyer (MLaw) or equivalent Swiss or foreign university degree with an additional education such as an Attorney at Law.
A further law degree such as an LL.M. and admittance to the New York State Bar are a strong plus.
At least 4–5 years’ experience as an in house Legal Counsel in the Asset Management, Banking or Investment Funds industry or in a law firm with a focus on these areas; seniority level will reflect your experience.
Strong legal drafting and communication skills, both in English and German, with attention to detail when required.
Knowledge of the U.S. Commodities Exchange Act and CFTC regulations is an advantage.
Outstanding English and German language skills, written and verbal, especially at a technical legal level.
