Internal Fundraising Initiatives

Vontobel ICRC Fundraiser 2024:  supporting the climate adaptation program of the International Committee of the Red Cross

Our 2024 Vontobel Fundraising Initiative is focused on "Climate Adaptation in Niger". Millions of people in Niger are dealing with the effects of climate shocks and armed conflicts. Around 80% of Niger’s population lives in rural areas and relies on agriculture for their livelihoods*. When the challenges of violence and climate change are compounded, it only makes it harder for them to feed their families. We want to support the ICRC's humanitarian efforts in Niger by helping to train the next generation in sustainable practices and promote an environment that enables better management of the impacts of climate change, thereby ensuring quality of life at a local level.

With the funds raised through this internal fundraising campaign the ICRC will, among other activities**:

1. Train women’s associations in milk processing and other income-generating activities;
2. Promote sustainable and climate-adapted farming techniques;
3. Provide farmers with seeds adapted to the local climate;
4. Help farmers with land reclamation and dune fixation;
5. Renovate and construct water infrastructure.

As with every year, Vontobel matches every employee donation.
